History
Launched at the inauguration of the Maritime Indaba in Johannesburg, South Africa, on October 25, 2013, by Her Excellency Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, then Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC), the initiative was subsequently consolidated by the 2015 Luanda Declaration, "On the Adoption of a Common Platform for Action for All African Women in the Maritime Sector," adopted at the 1st Continental Conference of All African Women in the Maritime Sector (WIMAfrica 2015), held in Luanda on March 26-27, 2015. This conference was organized by AMMPACA/WIMA Angola, in collaboration with MOWCA (Maritime Organization of West and Central Africa) and ASA (African Shipowners Association), under the auspices of the African Union and with the valuable sponsorship of the Government of Angola. Angolan. Cameroon played a central role in organizing the Luanda Conference, which resulted in the Luanda Declaration and the decision to create WIMAFRICA. The founding members worked on the declaration, the background, the research, and the scientific report. During the same year, they consolidated their support and commitment to women in the maritime sector in Cameroon, ensuring they occupied a prominent position among the founding members at the Luanda Conference by organizing the founding General Assembly of WIMACAMEROON on the premises of the institution they oversee, on July 10, 2015, in Douala.
